How did RetroLand Comics get started?
RetroLand Comics comes from the humble beginnings of a small D&D live-play YouTube channel called TeachWeReadProductions. RetroLand head, Robbie Burnham, joined this YouTube channel and they started their first campaign together, which was called The Dusty Ship, The Motley Crew, and the Emerald Prince. Robbie wanted to find a way to bring the stories of TeachWeReadProductions to more people so he enlisted the help of a friend, Isaac Cannon, to write his first comic based on his D&D character’s backstory. This comic came to be known as Envy War. Not long after starting on Envy War, Robbie was talking with friends from the Mississippi Gamers Society admin team and was challenged by them to come up with a new and original story for a comic book. Thus, Sinless Society was born. These comics were originally going to be released under the 601G Studios brand (a subsidiary of Mississippi Gamers Society) but ultimately it was decided that the 601G team wasn’t in the position to take on these projects and give them the love they deserved at the time and thus they advised Robbie to create his own brand and just pour his own heart and soul into it. Robbie did exactly that in creating RetroLand Comics and giving it all the love that it deserved. As of this writing, Envy War and Sinless Society have both released their first issues and their second issues are both currently in the works.
